19th Century French Gilded Clock Garniture, circa 1880. A very fine example of a French Napoleon III 19th century clock garniture consisting of one mantel clock and two side cassolettes. The large finely cast figure of a Greek Goddess seated next to the clock drum which is surmounted by a mandolin and dove featuring a porcelain dial with hand painted Arabic numerals and scrolled hands.

The whole mounted on a veined marble plinth with ormolu frieze and raised on four bun feet. The clock is flanked by two matching lidded urns/ cassolettes. The oval gold body surmounted by a flambeau finial and supported by a zoomorphic triform base in the form of rams heads and hoof feet, the whole raised on a stepped veined marble base. The clock demonstrates a high level of quality throughout with fine detail.

The original eight day mechanism is present without modification. The clock features a twin train mechanical movement striking the hours and half on a bell. The original bell, pendulum and winding key are present. Clock: 27 cm high x 36 cm wide. Garnitures: 29 cm high x 12 cm wide. Condition: Overall, the clock is in good working condition. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a very good colour. The mechanism is stamped by the renowned clock maker, Samuel Marti. Please note, whilst the clock currently works, during transport, all clocks are moved around a lot, and therefore, they may require setting up upon receiving them as well as the possibility of requiring professional assistance or a service as they can get'stuck'. There is no guarantee that the clock will work smoothly after it has been transported.
