French Legion Of Honor, Officer In Gold 1852-1870
This is a fine French Legion of Honor, Second Empire, Officer's grade in gold that is in excellent condition. It is constructed of gold with white, green, and red enamels. The arms are of white enamel with gold balls at the tips. The enamel in in several of the arms exhibits some hairline crackling but no chips or missing enamel.

The green enamel with red berries between the arms is perfect. The reverse of the lower tip of the wreath is stamped with the boar's head. The crown suspension is superbly crafted and exhibits extremely fine detail to Imperial eagles and feathering.

The red, green, and blue jewels are completely intact on both sides of the crown. The medal is suspended from the original ribbon with a perfect officer's rosette roundel firmly attached. An exquisite example that displays the highest degree of quality and craftsmanship, and one that remains in overall excellent condition.
