From a large brocante in the 14 th arrondissement of Paris, this vintage gold decorative mirror has just the right amount of age and wear to be both rustic and refined. With intricate carved detailing, featuring a carved Angel Head and side accents resembling wings at the top, while the lower portion features a carved lion's head. There is a small, triangular hanging device attached to the back.
From the 1940s- 1960s; while this looks and feels like wood, I believe it is more likely an older composite formula used frequently in Europe during this time period, consisting of wood pulp with a binding agent, and a gesso coating. Gilded gold painted finish, nicely worn over decades. Please review all photos for an accurate depiction of condition. There is one superficial hairline crack to top right, please refer to photos. Depth back to front: approximately 1.5 inches.
